Scorpio Gold Initiates Sonic Drilling Program at Manhattan Surface Facilities
SLR International Corporation is engaged to evaluate four historic surface material sites at the Manhattan District Project in Nevada [1].
Snapshot
Scorpio Gold Corporation announced the engagement of SLR International Corporation to design and execute a sonic drilling and metallurgical test work program at its wholly owned Manhattan District Project in Nevada, USA. The program targets already mined surface material across four historic facilities: a heap leach pad, tailings storage facilities, a waste dump, and a low grade stockpile area.

What We Know
Historical open pit mining began at Manhattan in 1980, and heap leach operations ran from 1989 to 1993. In 2024, Scorpio Gold completed a high resolution LiDAR survey reconciled against 1971 topographic maps, company density assumptions, and swell factor estimates to delineate the physical extents of the four surface facilities.
Phase 1 of the program includes approximately 35 vertical sonic drill holes using a track mounted rig, with samples collected on 0.5 to 1.0 meter intervals. SLR will oversee on site logging, sampling, chain of custody, and QA and QC protocols.
Head characterization test work will examine gold and silver assays, LECO sulfur analysis, and cyanide shake testing to determine oxidation state and cyanide amenability. If Phase 1 demonstrates potential economic value and drill spacing is sufficient, Phase 2 will advance to an incremental Mineral Resource Estimate.
Octans View
Scorpio Gold is testing whether surface material can support commercial toll milling agreements at operating mills within trucking distance in central Nevada. The road accessible Manhattan property is located in the Walker Lane Trend, approximately 15 kilometers south of the operating Round Mountain Gold Mine.
Management stated that junior exploration firms routinely rely on equity financings for growth, framing the Manhattan surface evaluation as an initiative to test whether organic development can provide an alternative funding pathway. Historical mining at the property took place under lower metal prices and older extraction techniques.
Bear Case · Room for Disagreement
The surface material across the four facilities has not been categorized as a mineral resource or mineral reserve under NI 43 101 standards, and Scorpio Gold is disclosing no volume or tonnage estimates at this stage.
Economic viability remains unestablished. Commercial realization depends strictly on upcoming assay results, potential follow up metallurgical testing, and successful toll milling negotiations with regional operators.
